Parent/Carer FAQs

Does my child need any special equipment?
Not initially, we will supply bats, balls, gloves, helmets etc. to get your child started. We can also provide advice on purchasing personal equipment and provide you with access to club discounts.

Is there a membership fee?
Yes, there is a membership fee but this will only apply once the Youth Baseball Camp (YBC) has completed in March.

The YBC is designed to provide your child with an introduction to the basics of baseball without any major outlay required on your part.

We can discuss Junior Membership and the applicable rates, where your child wants to further their interest in baseball beyond the YBC.

Are your coaches qualified and CRB checked?
Yes, all our coaches are Level 1 or Level 2 qualified and CRB checked. We also have non-coaching volunteers involved with the Youth Programme who are CRB checked.

Is there a Youth Baseball League and what fixtures are planned for 2012?
This will be the first ever year that we will have Junior Baseball Teams at Leicester Blue Sox.

The scale of our programme will be broadly dependent on the number of participating children involved and the support of their parents/carers.

As a minimum, we expect to organise inter-club fixtures that we hope will form the foundations of a Leicester Youth League.

Beyond Leicester, a similar programme runs annually in Nottingham, which creates the scope for regional games.

In addition, BaseballSoftballUK are hoping to run a Midlands Youth Tournament in the Summer, which could also take in Youth Teams from Birmingham, Stourbridge and Milton Keynes.

How will you keep me updated?
We are commited to producing a bi-monthly E-Newsletter that will keep parents and juniors updated on all relevant club matters.

Parents/carers are also encouraged to become volunteer members of the club and in the first instance, such enquires can be directed to our club Volunteer Co-ordinator.
